Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) Testing

GMO testing is a new method for genetically engineering an organism, whereby the organism molecular structure is altered by incorporating a gene that will express a desirable trait. The resulting GMO is also known as a transgenic. GMOs are found extensively in many primary food products and either accepted or rejected by some countries due to different GMO-labeling regulations.

Ag-Biotech offers a PCR-based GMO testing and quantification services certification program for various products such as feed, grains, and field and vegetable crops (seed or plants).

Various types of GMO testing services include:

a. Qualitative GMO contamination assay (to detect the presence or absence of any GMO individual).

b. This assay is based on individual or bulk seed or plants for any crop species.

c. Quantitative GMO contamination assay on any grain or feed product based on percent threshold detection limits at or below 0.1%. Quantitative GMO contamination assay below 0.1% via Real-Time PCR. The client must specify the threshold limit.
